I’m the wife of a firefighter and mother of four amazing children. Alongside my husband, Albert, we’ve established a school for under-resourced kids and we’re currently building a dive resort and a safe house in the Philippines. I also conduct seminars to mentor pastors and spiritual leaders in the area of trauma-informed spiritual healing. Living out the promise of John 10:10, I am deeply passionate about embracing and sharing this abundant life with others!

welcome to my website!

Our ministries’ mission is based on the spiritual mandate from Isaiah 61:1. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me and sent me to bring good news to the afflicted, to bind up the broken-hearted, and to set the captives free.” We endeavor to guide individuals, including those dealing with deep-seated issues, towards healing and restoration by offering compassionate support and powerful spiritual tools. We are dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment where individuals can deepen their faith, rebuild their lives, and experience profound transformation. Through Spirit-led prayer, trauma-informed counseling, and tried-and-proven spiritual practices, we empower each person to find strength, hope, and renewed purpose on their journey toward wholeness.

The Lighthouse School of Leadership in Mindanao, Philippines, is a premiere institution that combines the beauty of its oceanfront setting with a commitment to excellence. Our slogan is: Lighting the Path Today for Tomorrow’s Leaders. Using Montessori and Reggio Emelia pedagogies, students are encouraged to explore and grow at their own pace while learning to collaborate with others. At Living Waters Dive Resort in Mindanao, Philippines, guests will have a chance to unwind as well as experience amazing underwater adventures. Right now, we are inviting investors to come and join us as we develop this Haven for All (that’s our working slogan) surrounded by its crystal-clear waters and breathtaking coastal reefs. Alongside the resort, we are also building a safe house for abused women and children. Besides the work of rehabilitation, our hope is that they will learn new skills in the exciting field of tourism. If you’re interested to learn more about this latest endeavor of Pia Hugo Ministries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Since 2010, I have been offering personalized, in-depth spiritual counseling and prayer support for individuals seeking freedom from deep-seated inner turmoil. Each trauma-informed session is conducted in a private, safe, and professional environment. In the Los Angeles area and in the Philippines, much of my work has been focused on aiding abused women and children, including survivors of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and human trafficking. Past clients have dealt with issues like depression, anxiety, anger, addiction, suicidal ideations, low self-esteem, etc. and have experienced profound release through our spiritual techniques! Please contact Pia Hugo Ministries for more information.

Since 2016, I have conducted seminars to train leaders to become more effective spiritual healers and trauma-informed lay counselors within their churches, Christian organizations, and communities. Each year, I receive numerous invitations to speak and help individuals deepen their compassion and employ powerful spiritual tools and techniques to liberate those in need. I am committed to helping build healthier church environments and more vibrant spiritual communities. If you would like me to address your church or Christian group and talk about how we can create safer places for healing, or if you would like me to conduct a comprehensive training seminar, please do not hesitate to contact Pia Hugo Ministries for more information.

In 2022, my life story inspired a two-part drama series featured on the popular Philippine TV show : Magpakailanman. Since its release, over 6 million Filipinos have watched the TV production. The first episode, entitled A Child’s Trauma, is available with English subtitles right below. The second episode, A Mother’s Triumph, can be found on my YouTube channel, with English subtitles coming soon. (Click on the YouTube link further down to watch part two.)

The Philippines has 7,641 islands and Mindanao is the second largest island (after Luzon). Mindanao is in the southernmost part of the archipelago, and it is also where the Lighthouse School of Leadership and the Living Waters Dive Resort, which my husband and I established, are located.

While the official language is Tagalog, there are actually over 170 dialects spoken! I speak fluent Tagalog, having grown up in Manila on the northern island of Luzon. But Cebuano is the major dialect in Iligan City, Mindanao, where our school and resort are situated. This is followed by Maranao which is spoken by 2 million of the roughly 6 million Muslims in Mindanao (and nope, I don’t speak it…at least not yet).

The Philippines is the only Asian nation that is predominantly Christian. About 87% of the population identifies as Roman Catholic/Christian and religion is still a big influence in our society. I was baptized Catholic as a baby, went to mass each Sunday, and went to a private Catholic school. But at 19, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and now consider myself a “born-again” Protestant.

The largest and most expensive pearl in the world was found in the Philippines! It weighed a staggering 75 pounds and valued at an astonishing $100 million. You never know what you might discover when you dive into our majestic ocean waters full of underwater treasures—something you get to do at our Living Waters Dive Resort!

In the Philippines, Christmas is celebrated with unparalleled enthusiasm, kicking off in September and going all the way to January! At the Lighthouse School of Leadership, we have a huge Christmas party with abundant food and festive decors, as well as a lively Yuletide parade showcasing the kids in their favorite holiday attire. (Parents are invited to capture every magical moment through photos.)

The Philippines has the best singers in the world! Karaoke is our beloved pastime, and we are always willing to showcase our vocal talents at any given opportunity. You can be sure that our dive resort will have a Karaoke Night (or two) each week!

Filipinos are known for our creativity in the kitchen, whipping up unique dishes enjoyed by many across the globe. We enjoy adobo, sinigang, bibingka, sisig, pancit, menudo, caldereta, and more! At our restaurant in Living Waters Dive Resort, we only use locally-grown, organic ingredients to craft these and other delicious culinary delights!

Did you know that most Filipinos speak English? With a strong emphasis on English education, the Philippines ranks as the fifth-largest English-speaking country globally, making communication with locals a breeze for English speakers. By the time our students leave our Lighthouse School, they’re all able to speak and write in English like experts!

According to many surveys, Filipinos are the world’s most enthusiastic selfie-takers, showcasing their love for self-expression through photography. At our stunning Living Waters Dive Resort, guests can capture endless selfies, with the sunset—casting its golden and bluish hues across our skies—being the most popular time for the perfect shot!

The Philippines is the world’s second-largest producer of coconut products, with the country exporting approximately 20 million tons of this fruit each year. Locally known as buko, it is a key export product. Remarkably, our school and dive resort are surrounded by over 30 coconut trees, allowing us to enjoy fresh and delicious buko juice any time we like, straight from our own trees!

Becoming a Four-Faced Christian is an intimate look into Pia Hugo’s unique journey of transformation and restoration. It’s also a WAKE-UP CALL for the Body of Christ to start meeting the deep needs of those victimized by abuse of all kinds. Pia insists that we need to leave the shallow waters of Christianity behind and risk diving deep into the “spiritual ocean,” where God reserves His richest rewards for those who truly hunger and thirst for Him. When we resurface and the broken, especially the young, SEE only Jesus in us, she says, “they will be lining up outside our church doors, demanding to be let in--instead of waiting for hours to get the latest Coachella tickets.”
